We have created an experience that will allow you, on the same day, to go all the way to the top of one of the most famous volcanoes in the world and taste wines that grow on its fertile soil, all while enjoying a view onto the gulf of Naples and its islands.
Vesuvius, famous for its eruption in 79 A.D. which buried the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, offers numerous opportunities to come into contact with nature and organize excursions. One of these is an ascent to the crater that begins at an altitude of 1000 meters. Comfortable and panoramic, the path built into the volcanic material leads you to the summit where you will be able to admire the “Great Cone”, which releases geothermal gases that characterize the typical volcanic landscape. The walk around the crater gives you the unique chance to take photos of the Sorrentine peninsula, Naples and the promontory of Capo Miseno, where Pliny the Elder landed to bring help to the Pompeiians during the eruption of 79 A.D.
There is also the possibility of combining the excursion of Vesuvius with a visit to a winery for a tasting of typical local products like the red piennolo tomatoes and the famous Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio, a unique wine obtained from grapes that grow on the volcanic soil. Legend has it that when God recognized a corner of heaven was stolen by Lucifer, he cried and vines grew where his divine tears landed.
